Metallurgical Coal Exit List

The Metallurgical Coal Exit List (MCEL) is the first global database of companies that develop metallurgical coal – the one used in steel production. It also shows who invests in an industry with a significant carbon footprint although climate-friendly alternatives exist. Despite its catastrophic effects on our climate, most banks, investors, and insurers do not have metallurgical coal on their radar. The MCEL is changing that.

AIIB Watch

AIIB Watch documents environmental and human rights conflicts related to infrastructure projects financed by the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). The platform is a joint project of urgewald and civil society organizations from Asia, Europe, and North America. The interactive map shows cases in which the AIIB fails to comply with its own protection standards. The case studies reveal what is happening on the ground, give affected communities a voice, and clearly show that standards on paper are not enough — they must be implemented and independently monitored.
