The Banking on Climate Chaos report remains the most comprehensive analysis of fossil fuel banking available, endorsed by over 600 organisations from 75 countries. It adds up financing (lending, and underwriting of debt and equity issuances) from the world’s 60 biggest banks for the fossil fuel sector as a whole, as well as for top expanders of the fossil fuel industry and top companies in specific sectors. This year’s report found that European banks have poured over US$1.3 trillion into fossil fuels since the Paris Agreement was adopted.
The webinar will look at some of the key outcomes regarding fossil fuel financing and will focus on how this impacts frontline communities fighting against the fossil fuel projects highlighted in the report. The aim of this webinar is to inform campaigners about the findings of the report, so that they can utilise those to support their activities. We will also hear from frontline communities (Philippines, USA) impacted by the case studies in the report.
