New Kpler data analysis shows EU imports of Russian Arctic LNG generated an estimated €2.88 billion for the Kremlin in the first three months of 2026

New analysis from the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA), published today by Urgewald, shows Russia has earned an estimated €6 billion from fossil fuel exports since Israeli and US strikes on Iran began on 28 February.

Latest Urgewald research reveals: 100% of all Yamal LNG exports in February 2026 went to the EU, totalling 1,543,347 tonnes. 21 of 21 Yamal LNG cargoes were delivered to EU ports, despite Russia's ongoing war against Ukraine. Year-on-year: EU imports from Yamal rose 0.4% compared with February 2025. 17 of 21 cargoes were transported by vessels linked to Seapeak (UK) and Dynagas (Greece).

A new study by Finanzwende and Urgewald in cooperation with Facing Finance shows: The naming guidelines introduced by the regulator European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) in May 2025 led to more transparency and fewer fossil investments in ESG funds. However, many providers remain heavily invested in coal, oil and gas by selectively renaming their funds.
