The Urgewald Foundation was established in 2019 to safeguard the work of Urgewald e.V. Urgewald's goal is to drain the fossil fuel industry’s financing – a key lever in the fight against climate change. By developing pioneering databases, Urgewald has enabled consequential divestment decisions in the finance industry. Project funding

The Urgewald Foundation supports projects with different foci. Together, they all aim to cut fossil fuel finance and prevent climate collapse.

In 2023, the Foundation supported the two divestment lists Global Coal Exit List (GCEL) and Global Oil & Gas Exit List (GOGEL), the Finance Campaigner School 2023 and the Transition Campaign.

In 2024, the Foundation supported the Urgewald Film, the Finance Campaigner School 2024 and the Fair Funds platform.
