A fourth Russia-linked Arctic LNG tanker is heading for Denmark’s Fayard shipyard, where the yard is simultaneously repairing a Danish naval frigate. The visit comes days after new US legislation expanded sanctions powers covering vessels transporting Russian LNG, while new analysis suggests four Arc7 maintenance visits this summer could support around a decade of combined vessel operation.

New Urgewald analysis finds that the EU paid an estimated €7.3 billion for Russian Yamal LNG in just over eight months of 2026, already exceeding the estimated total for the whole of 2025.

New Urgewald analysis finds that the Boris Davydov carried 50 cargoes of Russian LNG worth an estimated €1.9 billion since its last servicing at Fayard, as campaigners urge Denmark’s Foreign Ministry to review the shipyard’s participation in a state-backed pavilion in Germany. 

The company was at the centre of Athens' opposition to the EU's 21st sanctions package. The final deal created an exemption for qualifying pre-invasion LNG contracts. It initially runs until 25 July 2027 and renews for successive one-year periods unless the Council decides otherwise following an annual review.

New Urgewald analysis shows that a second Arc7 LNG tanker, the Georgiy Brusilov, has reached Danish waters and is waiting for the Rudolf Samoylovich to leave Fayard’s dry dock. The development intensifies the dispute between the shipyard and 105 parliamentarians from 17 countries, including four Vice-Presidents of the European Parliament.
