Alexander Kirk is a Strategic Communications Specialist at Urgewald, where he focuses on energy security communications, strengthening the organization’s media presence, advancing sanctions related advocacy, and supporting high impact communications campaigns across Europe and globally. His work centers on translating complex research on fossil fuels, finance, and geopolitics into clear and compelling public narratives for journalists, policymakers, and the wider public.
Before joining Urgewald, Kirk spent more than 4 years at International NGO Global Witness, delivering nationally and internationally recognized campaigns that exposed fossil fuel influence and corporate complicity in climate harm. His work included COP29.com, 'Oilyfans' and high profile actions at global climate summits, securing widespread media coverage and driving political attention.
Kirk has also worked for the Labour Party in the United Kingdom across multiple election campaigns, supporting political organizing, messaging, and voter engagement. Across his career, his work has focused on holding polluters and their enablers accountable, while countering misinformation around energy security and climate policy.
Outside of work, Kirk enjoys watching football as a Liverpool FC supporter, taking part in pub quizzes, and watching films at the cinema.
