Vera has been part of the urgewald team since mid-February 2026.
She studied social pedagogy, but it was her volunteer work in projects in Israel/Palestine, India, and Southeast Asia that shaped her most profoundly. There, she experienced what it means when civic engagement meets structural injustice — and how essential long-term, well-funded work is to achieve real change.
Vera discovered her passion for fundraising in 2001 through a part-time program at the Fundraising Academy, along with her enthusiasm for inspiring people to support a good cause. Vera has since built up fundraising structures in environmental and development NGOs and most recently supported organizations from the agency side, primarily in direct marketing. At urgewald, she is excited to once again contribute directly to a dynamic and growing organization dedicated to climate protection and human rights.
Born and raised in Münster, Vera gets around almost everywhere by bike (“Leeze,” as it’s called locally). Sometimes, while cycling, she reminisces about riding her old Vespa and listens to Northern Soul. In Berlin, you’ll find her jogging in Volkspark Friedrichshain, at the theatre, or in a café with friends.
